Mr. Smith (L.C.) Goes to Washington by Frank Finch, Jr.
Finch announces that the L.C. Smith Collectors Association will have an exhibit for 12 months at the NRA National Firearms Museum in Fairfax, Virginia. Beginning in April, 16 guns spanning the period of 1890 to 1945 and memorabilia will be on display. He discusses future events and introduces other articles appearing in the newsletter.

The L.C. Smith Collectors Association Goes West by Dean Rasmussen
Rasmussen tells of the LCSCA participation in Wally Beinfeld’s Sporting Arms Show in Las Vegas in January. He describes the guns that were displayed, which made up the finest collection of high grade L.C. Smiths ever assembled. John Houchins and other individuals involved with publication of the new L.C. Smith – the Legend Lives were honored at a reception.

L.C. Smith Collectors Display at International Order of St. Hubertus Luncheon by Frank Finch, Jr.
Display of L.C. Smith shotguns at the January 31 Sporting Arms and Art Luncheon at the California Club in Los Angeles is described by Finch.

Charter Member Wins “Best of Show” by Frank Finch, Jr.
Finch describes Rich Beyer’s exhibit of L.C. Smith shotguns and memorabilia which won Best of Show at the December Forks of the Delaware Gun Show.

Biography of Allan Lard Inventor of the “Hunter One Trigger” by Larry B. Schuknecht
Allan Lard’s prolific life of inventing is outlined, and his patents are listed.

Fourth Annual L.C. Smith vs. Parker Challenge at the Southern Side-by-Side Championships by Tom Archer
Archer outlines the events to be held at the Deep River Shooting School, Sanford, NC April 27-29, 2007. Also, the complete set of rules for the L.C. Smith vs. Parker Challenge is provided.

The 2007 L.C. Smith vs. Parker Hammer Gun Challenge Rules and Instructions by Tom Archer
A new 5-stand event for hammer guns is described and the rules are provided. The event will be held April 29 as a part of the Southern Side-by-Side Championships.

5th Annual L.C. Smith Collectors Association Spring Shoot – Striving to Improve by Charlie Brooks.
Brooks outlines plans for the 5th Annual Spring Shoot scheduled for March 19 at the Carlisle Fish and Game Association, Carlisle, PA.

11th Annual Vintage Cup by Andy Anderson
The Order of Edwardian Gunners will move the Vintage Cup from New York to Pintail Point on the Eastern Shore of Maryland in 2007. The event is scheduled for September 27-30. The LCSCA display will feature L.C. Smith double and single trap guns.

An Opportunity of a Lifetime by Frank Finch, Jr.
Finch describes the L.C. Smith Collectors Association exhibit that opened on May 18, 2007 at the NRA National Museum in Fairfax, VA.

National Gun Day – The Louisville Show by Len Applegate
The Louisville Show was held February 24-25, 2007. Applegate outlines the L.C. Smith Collectors Association exhibit which featured Type I and Type II hammer guns and many kinds of memorabilia.

The LCSCA Spring Shoot by Charlie Brooks
Rev. Brooks summarizes the Fifth Annual Spring Shoot that was held March 19, 2007 at the Carlisile Fish and Game Association shooting grounds in Carlisile, PA.

“Many Good Men (and Women) . . .” by Frank Finch, Jr.
Finch outlines the recent event of the L.C. Smith Collectors Association and gives ideas on how to increase membership in the association.

L.C. Smith Speaks for Itself by Bob Devlin
L.C. Smith Collectors Association participation in the second annual “Colonies versus Colonials” event by the California Side by Side Society is outlined.  Photographs show winners of the events.

The Ohio Gun Collectors Show by Frank Finch, Jr.
The L.C. Smith exhibit at the OGCA Show at the Roberts Center in Wilmington, OH on July 13-15, 2007 is described.

Collectors Corner:  Refining the Type II Ejector Mechanism

Archer presents the evolution of the type II ejector and provides detailed analysis of the mechanism.

Smith Distinction Introduction by Drew Hause and Bill Hambidge
Drs. Drew and Bill outline their plans for a new column to appear in the next newsletter.  It will replace Tom Archer’s Collectors Corner.

The Editor Can’t Count by Len Applegate
Applegate corrects the caption for a photograph of Team L.C. Smith that appeared in the June Newsletter.

Board of Directors Election by Len Applegate
Members of the L.C. Smith Collectors Association are directed to vote for two of the three candidates (Chris Baumohl, Townsend D. Breeden, and Mike Lewis) to replace Bill Winter and Tom Archer on the Board of Directors.

11th Annual Vintage Cup by Andy Anderson
The venue for the Order of Edwardian Gunners (Vintagers) will change from New York to Pintail Point on Maryland’s Eastern Shore in 2007.  The L.C. Smith Collectors Association will display guns featured in a recent Double Gun Journal article at the September 27-30 event.

Let’s Kick it up a Notch by Frank Finch, Jr.
Finch challenges the membership to make a great organization even better in 2008.  He summarizes contributions to the organization by outgoing Directors Bill Winter and Tom Archer and outlines some of the events planned for 2008.

Vintage Cup at Pintail Point by Tom Breeden
The LCSCA participated in the 11th Annual Vintage Cup held at Pintail Point, near Queenstown Maryland September 26-30, 2007.  Breeden describes the display and results of some of the shooting events.

Tulsa Arms Show by Jim Stubbendieck
John Houchins, Don Hosey, and Jim Stubbendieck assembled the LCSCA exhibit for the Tulsa Arms Show held October 20 and 21,  Stubbendieck describes the immense size of the “World’s Largest Gun Show.”

Shooting for the “Bird” at the 4th Annual Turkey Shoot by Frank Finch, Jr.
Bill Winter made the arrangements for a very successful shoot at the Prince Georges Trap and Skeet near Glenn Dale, Maryland on November 3, 2007.  L.C. Smith shooters participated in five-stand, sporting clays, and hammer gun skeet.  Winners and scores of the events are presented.

LCSCA Poet Laureate Bleimaier describes hunting for woodcock on opening day in New Jersey with an L.C. Smith shotgun.

Sixth Annual Spring Shoot by Charlie Brooks
Brooks describes the details of the Sixth Annual Spring Shoot that is scheduled be held at Carlisle, PA on March 17, 2008.

Double Gun Special Shooting Event by Ray Ward
Ward provides the details of a classic side by side championship that will be held in Eatonton, GA March 8, 2008.

Not Quite the “Gun of Perfection” Glassbed Evangelism Part I by Drew Hause and Bill Hambidge
Drs. Hause and Hambidge describe the differences in stock of the classic double shotguns and discuss what happens to cause them to crack.

“Gladiator” Letter by Al Ginrich
Genrich describes the Gladiator shotgun he owns.  According to Col. Brophy, only 170 were produced.

2007 Election Results
Mike Lewis, Katy, Texas and Chris Baumohl, Huntsville, Alabama will replace Tom Archer and Bill Winter on the LCSCA Board of Directors on January 1, 2008.
