It’s Time to Renew Our Membership by Frank Finch, Jr.
Finch reminds members that it is time to pay the annual dues and outlines a change from calendar year membership (January through December) to anniversary year membership (needs to be renewed on the 12-month anniversary of when you joined). Other changes in the newsletter are discussed, and future events are summarized.

The Third annual L.C. Smith vs. Parker Challenge by Tom Archer
Archer invites shooters to participate in the Third Annual L.C. Smith vs. Parker Challenge at the southern Side by Side Championship at the Deep River Shooting School, Sanford, NC from April 28-30, 2006. The rules for the event are included.

Collector Corner by Tom Archer
This is a new feature of the newsletter. Archer provides the history of the L.C. Smith shotgun and the various companies that produced these guns.

L.C. Smith Records at the Cody Firearms Museum by Jim Stubbendieck
Stubbendieck describes the L.C. Smith records held by the Cody Firearms Museum at the Buffalo Bill Historic Center in Cody, WY. The staff of the Cody Firearms Museum is introduced and contact information is provided.

In Keeping With Tradition by Charlie Brooks
Brooks invites shooters to participate in the Fourth Annual L.C. Smith Spring Shoot to be held at the Warrington Club in Wellsville, PA on March 20, 2006.

National Gun Day . . . The Louisville Show by Len Applegate, Frank Finch, Jr., and Cliff White
The authors describe the participation of the L.C. Smith Collectors Association in the Louisville Show in February.

West of the Mississippi by Len Applegate
Events scheduled for locations west of the Mississippi River are summarized.

L.C. Smith Collectors Association/California Side by Side Society

Devlin describes what will become the L.C. Smith Collectors Association’s first event on the West Coast. “The Colonies versus the Colonials” is scheduled for the Coyote Valley Sporting Clays (south of San Jose) for June 17, 2006.

The official changes in membership renewal date are outlined.

John Houchin’s New Book is in the Works by John Houchins
Houchins is writing an new book on L.C. Smith shotguns and trying to locate Syracuse bar action hammerguns (Type I in Brophy) in Qualities B and C for photographs.

Thanks All Around by Frank Finch, Jr.
Finch thanks everyone who attended the Seventh Southern Side by Side in Sanford, NC and discusses the results of the Third Annual L.C. Smith vs. Parker Challenge.

The L.C. Smith Collectors Association Baltimore Show by Bob Trefry
Theme of the L.C. Smith Collectors Association display was Rail Bird Hunting Along the Patuxent River and the exhibit was developed by Bill Winter and Bob Trefry.

2006 Annual Spring Shoot by Charlie Brooks
Brooks describes how the Annual Spring shoot “. . . keeps getting better each year.” The shoot was arranged by Andy Anderson, and it was held at the Warrington Club in Wellsville, PA the day after the conclusion of the Maryland Arms Collectors Show in Baltimore.

National Side by Side Festival by Tom Martin
This marked the first year that the Vintagers National Side by Side Festival was held at the Rio Brazos Hunting Preserve near Katy, TX. John Houchins designed the display.

Do You Want Your Pork Chopped or Pulled? by Tom Archer
Archer leads the reader on a step-by-step description of the 2006 L.C. Smith vs. Parker Challenge.

The Charge of the Smith Brigade by John Kuhn Bleimaier

Applegate discusses the LCSCA exhibit at the OGCA Show that featured L.C. Smith shotguns made by the Marlin Firearms Company from 1945-1950 and 1968-1971.

World Side-by-Side Championships and Exhibition by Andy Anderson
The LCSCA exhibit and individuals participating in the Tenth Annual Vintage Cup in Sandanona, NY are discussed. Anderson points out that the 2007 Vintage Cup will be held at Pintail Point in Queenstown, MD.

The Third Annual Turkey Shoot . . . or How We Got the Bird by Bill Winter
Winter writes about the preparations for the event and how the event unfolded. Charlie and Kevin Brooks were the winners of the three events.

Collector’s Corner – John Houchins’ Book by Tom Archer
Archer discusses the content of the new L.C. Smith book and describes how it differs from Brophy’s book. The cost of the book and ordering information are provided, and it will be available in January.

2006 Board of Directors Election Results by Len Applegate
Bob Trefry and Dean Rasmussen were elected to the Board. It is an additional term for Bob, and Dean replaces Andy Anderson who retired from the board.

2007 Events
Thirteen events for 2007 are outlined.
