How does Dr Bill finish stocks?

Dr. Bill uses tung oil based Pro-Custom Oil.  After saturating the wood with 50-50 mixture of gum turpentine and Spar Varnish, he applies the Pro-Custom Oil with an air brush and sands between coats with 400/600/800/1000 grit.  To completely fill the pores and build a deep solid oil finish, it takes 25 to35 coats and about six weeks to accomplish.

The finish is dulled back to satin at the end using Brownell's Triple "F" Stock Rubbing Compoun).  This finish is impervious to water and can readily be repaired with fine sandpaper and touching up the scratches using a Q-tips and more Pro-Custom Oil.
